an Algorithm OF deviance

Created as part of Heather Barnett’s Crowd Control Festival in 2017, An Algorithm of Deviance looks at how machine algorithms govern behaviour in public spaces.

The piece was generated as a response to the workshop Escaping the Lawscape, about the ways in which the law is encoded and made present in the environments around us, and the piece asks it’s reader or player to consider what kind of behaviour is permissible and deviant in the space you are in, and who is controlling that - and watching you?
