Day 4577
Day 4577 imagines us in a collective future now.
4577 days after the end of the world as we know it. What remains? How do we relate to one another when the systems of power & exchange that currently run our lives fade away?
Day 4577 combines future and speculative imagining with social and practical gathering. We imagine together the 4,577th day following a paradigm shift - a regime change: the fall of capitalism, the change of our status quo, and the start of something new. In this after time, we will live, connect and gather in new, radical ways. It is about what comes after the end of the world, the time after the morning after the revolution. It’s about rebuilding quietly, one cup of tea at a time.
Day 4577 exists as a creative collaboration between artists Mel Frances and Pavlos Christodoulou.
cork boards
The practice currently consists of digital exchanges between artists Mel Frances & Pavlos Christodoulou, & the creation of a mirrored home corkboard - an artefact from the world of Day 4577. Inspired by futures imagining practices such as Napkin Futures, this approach looks at future imagining through fragments - what might small messages shared in this world be, & what can these tell us of what society could be like, how we can gather, relate, connect differently.
